Despite this awful pandemic, birthdays are still happening for my little babies and every year older is another year to celebrate! I know how lucky we are to be healthy and together, and I want to still have pleasant memories of these crazy times. So, when Baby K turned 4, I knew I had to come up with a way to give him a great birthday party while still being safe. The solution–a garage party! We pushed over the lawnmower and the camping gear, set up a beautiful dessert table and arranged the lawn chairs with lots of space between. We only invited a few of our adult friends, so it was easy to stay safe with the garage door open. Definitely a different setting than usual, but memorable and loads of fun nonetheless! And the New York City Theme turned out great, he loved those little paper taxi cabs!
I did a combo of home made plus store bought snacks for this party. The cheesecake and pizza came premade, and my Hubbie grilled the hotdogs. I made candied nuts, cinnamon sugar pretzels, I Heart NY vanilla cupcakes, and that show stopping M&M Kit Kat Statue of Liberty cake–with mini M&Ms inside the cake, too! But the absolute best thing on that table were the Black & White cookies. I had never had these before, not even on our trips to NYC. After how amazing those cookies were from my own oven I can only imagine how good they’d be in Manhattan! The recipe was from PeanutBlossom and I already can’t wait to make them again!
And of course this party had signature cocktails, as every 4 year old’s birthday party should have, am I right!? My husband and I took turns playing bartender making authentic Cosmopolitans and Manhattans and they were a hit. We let the kids drink some juice mocktails from a martini glass, too. So cute!
I already had the giant NYC cityscape poster from Baby K’s Batman Gotham City New York Theme Nursery and I made some paper taxis and street signs to decorate the table, of course using the accurate “Road Sign Green” shade, RGB (1, 115, 92) in case you’re wondering!

It was a really lovely party celebrating my growing baby boy, I can’t wait to see what we come up with for next year!
