I’m back with another pregnancy update! It’s really moving along quickly and I’m already in the third trimester (home stretch) as I write this. Baby J, my little 5 year old, is convinced the new baby will be a boy with brown eyes, I wonder if she’s right? I have brown eyes and my husband has blue; we have a daughter with brown, a son with brown, and a daughter with blue…statistically, she could be on to something! She also has decided on a name: Peter Pan. So cute!
The second trimester has been fabulous with almost no complaints at all. Sometime around the halfway point I realized that I couldn’t continue with my weight training, as it was creating quite a bit of discomfort in my pelvis for more than a week after every workout. Thankfully, I had completed my Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training online when the pandemic began, so I had the tools to at least continue moving with yoga. But to be honest, just like with Baby #3, working out has taken a backseat to resting, and I’m ok with that. I am really quite tired, and while I’ve been able to get up early and do a modified Ashtanga primary series now and again, I am valuing sleep and sitting over structured exercise these days. I certainly don’t get a lot of down time with 3 little kids, so I don’t feel bad about it! If anything, not being able to move like I want to has me even more pumped and motivated for the postpartum weight loss, which is always fun (yes, I said fun!). But, once again, being pregnant has forced me to slow down—at least physically—and that’s always a big adjustment.
Other than that, plus some fairly unreasonable mood swings (…ha!), all has been smooth sailing with this pregnancy, and I feel really blessed for that. I am well aware that many people are really suffering because of this awful pandemic, so I am nothing but grateful that everything is going so well for me and this little baby.
Weight: I still don’t know how much I’ve gained (feels like lots!), but looking at the pictures it seems comparable with my other pregnancies, so I’m not concerned. I’ll deal with it later!
Cravings: There haven’t really been any more cravings in this second trimester. Definitely eating a lot of carbs, and I don’t mean the vegetable variety. I go most of the day just snacking and realize I haven’t had a chance to eat lunch until 4pm, so I guess it’s kinda like unintentional intermittent fasting?!
Bump: I have been studying the comparison photos, and I feel like this bump is bigger than all the rest. But I still can’t really tell if I’m carrying high like I was for Baby #1 and #3 (girl) or low like I was for Baby #2 (boy), because I feel like the fit of the dress affects my perception of the bump. But maybe some objective eyes can see what I’m not seeing? Comment your guess!!

I have a few more weeks to go before I can post my third trimester fourth pregnancy bump comparison, but hopefully in the meantime I’ll be able to get the nursery decorated to show you all. I have a rough plan and a pile of décor, now to just find the time to execute my vision!
