It’s hard to believe it, but my littlest baby girl turned 1! Even though we are in the midst of a pandemic, we still wanted to celebrate her, however strange and unusual the circumstances may be. So, we threw together a socially distanced (i.e. no guests!) Palm Beach themed party for her, and it was fabulous!
We weren’t actually planning to have a party at all, we thought we would wait until some of the restrictions had been lifted. But, it just didn’t feel right not to do anything, so the morning of her birthday we decided to do it! It was a busy day, but very fun and memorable.
One set of grandparents and my sister stayed outside in our yard and watched through the window, communicating with us via the baby monitor as a walkie talkie (ingenious!). The other set of grandparents joined in via FaceTime on my iPad. So, even though we didn’t have anyone come in and enjoy the party, we still celebrated Baby A with our family.
Aside from the balloons, the decor was made up of things gathered around the house (seen mostly here in our library). I love Palm Beach style and would have so much more all over the house if I could…but, it’s not my husband’s favourite style, so instead, I just sprinkle Palm Beach elements here and there. It works!
We blew up the balloons while the cake layers baked in the oven. I happened to have a little sugar cookie dough already made in the fridge, so it was quick to roll out some flamingo and “A” and #1 cookies and quickly ice them with fuchsia candy melts. The only other preparation was the Nordstrom strawberry lemonade, all the other desserts were pink treats my husband found at the grocery store.
The pineapple cake was adorable, a delicious chocolate cake with buttercream icing. I also made a sugar free banana carrot cake (recipe here from Doves Farm) with sugar free coconut icing (recipe here from Leelalicious) for Baby A’s cake smash. I was a bit rushed, so I may or may not have decorated only the front of that pineapple cake…what do you think?
It was a lovely Palm Beach party for my sweet baby girl, and so nice to be able to celebrate safely and virtually! The restrictions here have now been lifted ever so slightly, so I’m excited to get to celebrate Baby K turning three this month, stay tuned for that!
ps. I don’t like to show my babies’ faces on the internet, you can read about why here!

Hahah, you’re so funny. Super Dad helped, too! It was a team effort. Most fun for the kids was sitting in the room filled with balloons before he got them on the arch!

Thank you so much! It was honestly nutty to do it so last minute hahah. We made the decision at 10am and were ready for 6pm! The rest of the house was a qualified disaster hahah!
